Went for a run while up at the lake (Wellman) on Sunday. Beautiful day. Calm, sunny and warm. First time for t-shirt and shorts. I wore a belt with two small jugs of water. Used them too. 8 miles. The 4 mile split was past Two Mile Lake boat launch place. Around the curve and down the hill. I clocked it with the truck the day before. There is a yellow traffic curve sign at the bottom of the hill. That was 6.5km from the Wellman Lake Store turn off.
Apprantly, cold water on the legs after a run is a good thing. I'm not sure what it does. It obviously takes the built up heat away from the big leg muscels. I guess that's good? We've spray each other's legs with a garden hose and that can get pretty cold. Yesterday, I went to the end of the dock. The ice out about 3 feet beyond that. I stood in the water after my run. I was going to stand in there for 20 minutes but came flying out after 2 minutes. Holly-Makerel it was cold!!!!! What will they think of next. And the question is, will I do what they think of next?
Time will tell.
Keep give'n'er,
gk

I went for a 16 km run Sunday morning. I'm a little more than a month away from the half in Saskatoon. Knees and quads are still a little sore but I thought I had a decent pace - finished in 1:34.
Days like this I wonder why I do this, but then when I crave Shiver ice cream, I know I better keep running...
Oh, and Sunday was perfect for running temperature wise. I'm sure you had a great run up at the lake.
I headed out this morning, was up early so I ventured out. It's amazing how quick it brightens up in the morning, even over last week I can notice a difference. Not sure about tomorrow, its dryland tonite again and I'm always a little stiff and tired first thing. I'll try though!
Garry,
All the research that I have read up in suggests that you should submerge yourself at the very min. waist deep in ice water after a run !!! lol
