Nice out this morning. A slight breeze out of the SouthWest but very slight. Lots of birds singing. I got an early start - 5:30a.m.; it is still dark and street lights but the dawn comes quickly. It's not like January, if you started at 5:30 it would be the same when you finished up. I finished up this morning at 6:10a.m. and the sky was well on it's way to showing light.
Other people out that's for sure. Good to hear from Rob McDonald, Derick Holton, Angela Mullen and Lance Beach. Leaving a comment or one liner on the All Weather Runing Blog is great. Real nice to hear from anybody out there who checks the blog. It's the feedback that keeps us going.
I had a hard time this morning, despite it being a beautiful morning out there with birds signing, etc. I had just a ponderous run. My legs felt like they weren't mine; like they transplanted a different pair of chicken legs on me in the night when I was sleeping. I could hardly, barely make them work. You know the feeling?
My run this morning was supose to be a 4 mile tempo run according to my 1/2 marathon training schedule. I was a long ways from tempo. I went around the old by-pass. I know from my door step around and back is exactly 4 miles. It took me 40 minutes. That's a 10 minute mile. I should be at least at a 9 minute mile but I wasn't even close. Oh well! We'll keep going, what are you going to do. I guess some days are better than others. I weighted in at 155 lbs. this morning. Got to get that down to 145 lbs. - 10 lbs lighter - then watch out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maureen asked me to check my BMI (body mass index) to make sure that I wasn't trying to drop too much weight. I went on line and found a bmi calculator and checked it. You just feed in height and weight. So for me: 155lbs @ 5 feet 7 inches indicated a normal weight range from 18.5 to 24.9 and I'm at 24.6. So, I can drop some safely enough. It's that "spare tire" stuff around my waiste. If I could get rid of that........
Keep give'n'er,
gk
Tip for the Day:
Tieing running shoes. I just recently figured it out. Two kinds of bows: one is a granny knot and the other is a reef knot. You know you tied a granny knot as one of the loops and ends points down towards the toe. A reef knot lays flat and across the laces. The granny knot will loosen and untie with running. The rief knot will only tighten more with runing. So it's good to tie the reef knot. And a very easy thing to do. Tie the first part of your knot like you always do. Then the second part is wraping the first loop and tightening. If you wrap it one way and it's a granny knott then redo it wrapping it the other way. One way is granny the other way is reef. Simple. If you've ever had your shoe lace come undone in a run, it's very frustrating. You don't want to break your stride, stop and reitie it, and then have to start up again.

Hello,
Good luck to all the marathon trainers. Erin is going to run the Super Run and I'll run with her to see her to the finish line. Today is windy around the lake but I will make my way to the bridge and back.
Maureen
