JANUARY 23rd, Sunday

Hey

Good run this morning. Ran at 9a.m. Snowing lightly. Only -14*C (alomst twice as warm as the last couple runs). Ran the New By-pass which is a 5 mile'er for me from doorstep to doorstep.

The shoulder had about 3/4" of fresh snow. It was freindly to run in. It provided a cushion to land on. Like having a brand new pair of runners. There was some resistance to it tho. I had about 1/2 and 1/2 of "snowshoulder" and "bareasphalt". A pretty good mix; not much traffic.

I mostly go aticlockwise around the new by-pass for some reason. One of the segments is from the Stop sign to the Railway crossing. It feels good to get to the railway tracks. Then the next segment is the big curve. And it certainly is a big long curve. It goes all the way around to the Nuisance Grounds intersection before it hits the straingt tangent. Then the next section is the straight stretch to the traffic lights at Hydro. You hope your timming is right so that the lights are green and you don't have to break stride. It's a pretty good route if your looking for a 5 mile loop. Good paved shoulders, good traffic vision.

Keep give'n'er,
it's nice outside,
gk

Hey there,

Home from a ringette tourney, a marathon of sorts. Late nights in a hotel and long days at the rink. Girls played well and we all had a good time. Only t-mill at the hotel was right beside the pool, hot and humid (like summer).

i saw you running on saturday and sunday. that's great. it can be done in the cold - despite those that say it's too cold to exercise outside. i ran monday wednesday and friday last week and it was cold, but not too cold to stay home. it is usually not windy in the morning, so that is the difference. i met a lone walker this morning - it's always nice to see someone else taking advantage.
