-12*C. Light snow. Calm. A good run. Donnie said he had too much on. When he came in his shell was unzipped.
Tracy and Garry wore the "ice cleats" that slip over the runners. I was hesitant to use them but they worked out ok. They weren't a problem. I remember last year, I kinda thought they were 50/50 - half the time you didn't need them or want them on. But this morning, they provided good footing on the snowpac-ice surfaces. I think they (the ice cleats) take pressure off the hips. If you don't have them on and you are running on ice, it's like tiptoing on eggs and the hips are constantly compensating to keep you balanced and not laying on the ground.
Lance was out and run great, even tho he didn't get to bed before midnight. That really shortens up the rest time, especially for me - a little older you know.
We all ended up back at the arena parking lot around 20 after 6a.m. Didn't see anybody else but maybe you were out? Or on your new treadmil that you got for Christmas? Treadmils are good. Mix it up, some outside, some treadmil. Variety is he spice of life. Sometimes it is hard; lots of times it's hard, to keep motivated and to keep running. So, if you mix things up - that's good, it keeps you interested and keeps you going. We all use that variety.
The 2nd scheduled run for 2010 is this THURSDAY, JANUARY 7th. Oh ya.
Keep give'n'er,

I think I may try a pair of those cleats as well. With the skiff of fluffy snow it made it quite slippery when you hit the hard packed stuff underneath. Then i find that you just shuffle along, anticipating a slip.
Nice morning, great to be out there.
Snow in our end of the province too! While you guys were running I was driving on a slippery #1- to Winnipeg. My workout will be on the t-mill at lunch today. Swam laps in teh pool on the weekend, arms still stiff. Good for variety and a break on the joints.
