rain here in plap. Socked in all afternoon. Pouring like mad.
Did a 4 mile run to the bridge. Started at 1/4 to 12 noon. I warmed up for 10 minutes then started doing fartlecks (a Sweedish word which means "speed play"). Each one for about 75 meters - full speed. Then a short walk, back to a slow jogg then another fartleck. One after another like that for 13 sessions. I picked landmarks along the route. Like park bench to park bench or drain pipe to ped, sign to sign, physical markers like that. Full bore stuff puts a strain on things, everything actually. But it feels good to go full speed for a short distance. A lot of more vigorous arm pumping, a different stride. It's like arms spread out when you cross a finish line. Or trying to get to first base after an infield hit. When was the last time you ran to first base - full tilt.
Good thing is - everything stayed in tact. No pulled this or that. Those kind of runs are potential "hamstring pulls", "groin pulls", "achillies tendon" , etc. It's pushing it to just under the threshold where everything flies apart like a firecracker.
try running to first base again; it feels pretty good!!
Keep give'n'er,
gk

ran on tuesday and darn near froze running into the strong wind as i travelled north from reich road to ross street. as soon as i turned west it was more pleasant. this morning - wednesday - while at dryland @ taylor school i saw evidence of Lance running as his vehicle was parked at the arena. max and joan and company walked by as well. again - a very cold strong wind this morning - so yay for anyone that was out and about.
Started boot camp, this is one tough work out , but I know that mixing it up will help my running. Still dark at 4:45, BUT ON THE FLIP , it usually is calm... running is going great !!
