MONDAY, the 26th of July RODEO WEEK

This is it. Rodeo week. The Long Week-end. The first of August. The 5k/10k run. It all happens this week, right here in River City.

I run yesterday, Sunday, up at the Lake at 10a.m. Ran about 5 mikes, including up and down Corpanicus Hill. It's an opportunity do some hill work. It's fun running thru the forest and up the hill. The bush is green and quiet. Alls I could hear was my breathing: I was doing lots of it on the way up. No bears.

Running downhill. You can do that if the footing is good and it's not wet or slippery. To run downhill is a bit different. You need to lead with your feet and legs and lean your shoulders back into the hill. The opposite of going up. It feels a bit wierd but it works well - you can acutally run down. If it's wet and slippery and footing is bad, it's a different deal. You really can't run down, you have to be on your tippy toes and use more of a cross, sidewise, stiff legged step.

Cross country running is fun. It's entertaining running. The scenery changes, the fooging changes, the grade changes. From Heather Hart's to Keith Immerkar's would be an excellent 10k cross country run. A great idea; hopefully those plans come about. We'll have more on this; keep checking the blog.

Rodeo Fun Run is at 7a.m. starting time from the Centennial Arena on Friday morning the 30th of July. Your choice - 5 or 10k. No entry fee or preregistration - just show up and run or run/walk or walk the course. See you there.

Keep give'n'er,
gk

Hi everyone.m

Have a good run at the rodeo. Hopefully I'll make it one of these years. Ran yesterday to the bridge, with Erin riding beside me. Hot Hot Hot, even at 9:30 in the morning. Good thing there are lots of trees along the Portage Oxbow.

Vegas and I were out early. Had to burn off some of Max's raseberry pie.
Hot and humid. I'm not complaining, the ground will be frozen soon enough. Love the heat.
