That's it for this week's tues. & thurs. runs. Nice morning this morning. It had rained sometime in the night and the asphalt was wet but no puddles. The temp was above 10*C. No stars and it was calm. That's it for me for running until the Terry Fox Run this Sunday. I've got a foot that's bothering me a bit. I've had the problem before and I have to "lay off" a bit. That's hard to do; runners don't like to "not run". I've been icing it after running and it's getting by. It's tough to quit running and let things heal - like you should do. Otherwise the injury or nagging pain can worsen into a real problem. Then you really can't run. A person has to listen to his body. I keep saying to myself that rest is as important.
But back to the Tuesdays and Thursdays. If you do just that - run twice a week from now until April, you'll be set for spring running. You will have made solid muscel around the joints and thus supporting them. If you don't run, you will have weaker muscels and it will be harder on the joints. That's what people like to say who don't run. "Öh ya, but it's hard on the joints eh".
And the thing is, in the Spring, we're pumped up a bit more about running. All of a sudden you can go in a t-shirt and shorts and there are lots of other runners out and about. And you naturally push it a bit more. And..... if you haven't run twice a week all winter, it's not going to be as easy on the body and in partiuclar - the joints.
So that's it then. Twice a week. All weather runners. You can do it. Get some winter running gear and the weather won't bother you a bit.
Keep give'nér,
gk
