I made a request to Town Council to see if The All Weather Running Club could put the Jack Brown Lights on a couple times per week and they granted the request.
It will be a trial run for two months December and January to see if it's worth while.
Here is the schedule starting Thusday, December 2nd, 2010.
Every Tuesday and Thursday evening the lights go on at 7:30p.m. and go off at 8:00p.m. (a half hour each night). We can run around the Jack Brown Diamond and it will be light up like daylight.
The following are some numbers on the track:
AROUND THE JACK BROWN DIAMOND
one lap is
0.2097
miles
If it takes you 10 minutes to run a mile, in 30 minutes you will run 14.30615 laps around The Jack Brown Diamond
If it takes you 9 minutes to run a mile, in 30 minutes you will run 15.89572 laps around The Jack Brown Diamond
If it takes you 8.5 minutes to run a mile, in 30 minutes you will run 16.83077 laps around The Jack Brown Diamond
If it takes you 8.0 minutes to run a mile, in 30 minutes you will run 17.88269 laps around The Jack Brown Diamond
The lights go on at 7:30p.m. sharp
The lights go off at 8:00p.m. sharp
Clockwise on Tuesday nights
Counter clockwise on Thursday nights.
Always run on the outside of the track and leave the inside lane clear for passing
Track Comparison:
Between The Jack Brown Circle Track & The Dauphin Oval Track. 1 mile on the JB takes 4.77 laps
1 mile on the Dauphin Oval takes 7.5 laps
So, The Jack Brown Circle is just about twice as long as Dauphin's oval. And that means a lot less turning.
Keep give'en 'er

good idea Duke. Will give a try for next week.
Been given my treadmill a work out lately. Hopefully it warms a bit later this week.
Great idea.....give people an excuse to get out there.....why not, you are doing us all a favour.
